Strolling on the dual carriageway smiling from ear to ear, beguiled by the scenery, and using every excuse in the book to impress the locals with my limited Portuguese, and Spanish sentences and pronunciations while at dinner or asking for directions, I couldn’t help but think of the reasons I love Portugal.
The locals are the friendliest, easy-going people you’ll meet making you feel at home with the way they converse and smile at you offering top notch customer service in the process.
Prepare to taste the sea with their seafood and fish dishes as they are fresh, delicious and paired with incredible food combinations.
The moon shining onto the sea still has its lingering effect on my mind. It gets better as the days are brighter with the sun beaming into your room in the early mornings which immediately puts you in the best mood. Also, if your ultimate goal is to tan, you’re guaranteed to get a bronzed look within an hour.
One thing that caught me off guard was the cost of their meal, ranging from three Euros to fifteen Euros. I’ve dined at three restaurants with different price range and came out spending no higher than twenty euros. Honestly, I’m still shocked at how affordable it is in Portugal.
There wasn’t a day I was out on the street that I didn’t see a group of people jogging, exercising by the road and at the beach. Being the health fanatic that I am, it gave me the motivation to keep healthy. They are very health conscious and signing up to exercise with them shouldn’t be difficult.
I’m not sure if it’s the Atlantic breeze or easy-going lifestyle, Portimao coast has a refreshing set of beaches and cliff that makes my adventurous nature go crazy. You can swim, snorkel, Jet-ski, go on hikes and sunbathe, all while still feeling at peace and in one with nature.
Editing my pictures, writing about my experience has me longing to book a holiday back to Portugal. I miss the culture, food, people, sun, sea and sand.
