Perfect Food And Mock-tails Pairings

For some time now, I’ve had this idea in my head and looked for ways to execute it without sharing with friends or readers on social media. I’ve been a pescatarian for nearly a year, stopped drinking about a year ago which has made brunch or dinner with friends difficult especially when it comes to marrying your meal with juices, and mocktails.

According to recent news, people have become health conscious switching their diets to healthier options; opting for water, or juices rather than wine, So I thought I would share the food and mocktails pairs that are perfect when you’re dining out with friends, or on a date.

It was perfection. It felt like sex on a plate.

The first pairing started when I dined at Ours Restaurant for my birthday. The pairing of the night was Halibut, borlotti beans, Roscoff onion and Tropiclada (Pineapple & lychee juice, Orgeat Monin coconut cream, tropical red bull), the food was warm and savoury so having a drink that’s sweet with a zing of tangy helps balance out the savouriness of the main course.

Starting the meal, my friend Bola and I ordered Calamari, Burger Sliders and Pork Belly, and order Afternoon Rebalance and Pornstar Martini. Of course, I had the Calamari and Afternoon Rebalance (Rhubarb & Rosehip cordial, apple juice, lime juice & cucumber bitters, topped with soda), and it was divine. The sweet and sour flavours of the Mocktail complemented the Calamari beautifully. Moving to the main course, the both of us ordered Pan fried sea bass (On a stew of prawns, mussels, squid, heritage potatoes, tomato, fennel & white wine sauce), Honey glazed roast carrots, with toasted bread to accompany the meal and ordered Peach Melba. The fruity fresh flavour of the drink brought out the taste of the Sea Bass, which was perfect on its own. But it elevated the dining experience. Honestly, the experience of marrying my meals with mocktails has me excited about my next food adventure because the endless flavours of the fresh, fruity mocktails that surprises your taste bud.

The Brownie was soft, and not chewy. Sweet dark chocolate but not sickly. It was perfection. It felt like sex on a plate.

Have you ever had an unforgettable mocktail and meal pairing? What was the feeling you experienced? Would you try these combinations I tried and suggested? What are your thoughts? Let it be known!
